Acer to Launch Ultra-Thin Timeline Series in June

Acer's Aspire One

According to several reports today, Acer will launch an 11.6-inch ultra-slim notebook next month and begin either gently phasing out the Aspire One (which also packs a screen size of 11.6-inches) or else drop the price of the older netbook to establish a clear distinction between it and the new Timeline.

Citing industry sources in Taiwan, Digitimes says that Quanta Computers will undertake OEM production despite previous reports claiming Acer had reduced its 11.6-inch orders to Quanta because of unsatisfactory sales.

No details on specs yet but based on the fact that Acer is considering either pricing or discontinuation to distinguish between the two, we assume the Timeline is going to be a super-slim machine with netbook specs. We’ll keep you posted, though.

Kill@dorI wonder how much this one is...?I won't buy it for myself, but maybe a good gift for my newphew.I own a 13.3 Timeline and I'm quite pleased with it. It feels sturdy, has all the connectivity you would want, high battery life and the core processor is waaaay better then any atom equipped machine. My only disappointment with it is that it ain't a envy 133 :P

  • I just want to know why Acer refuses to bring the version with the switchable ATi graphics to the States.
