Sega Launching Alien: Isolation Add-On Pack This Month

SEGA announced on Tuesday that Alien: Isolation will get a downloadable content update on October 28. Called Corporate Lockdown, this will be the first of five add-on packs for the survival horror game, providing fans with three new maps in the game's Survival Mode. This content pack will cost $7.99 when it's launched next week.

"In 'Corporate Lockdown', Seegson Executive Ransome has learnt that he has been abandoned by his paymasters," the press release described. "Knowing that the Torrens is on the way, he decides to make his escape and hitch a ride on board, taking decoded Nostromo data with him. However, while escaping he wants to tie up a few loose ends."

The three new maps are labeled as Severance, Scorched Earth and Loose Ends. To score a place at the top of the leaderboards, players must complete these levels the fastest way possible while also taking on several side quests and unlocking hidden bonus objectives. This pack also introduces Gauntlet Mode, which challenges players to complete all three maps back to back without dying.

Currently, Alien: Isolation has a metascore of 80 over on Metacritic, and a user score of 8.5. GameRankings shows that the PC version has a score of 81 percent whereas the Xbox One version has a 78.88 percent score and the PlayStation 4 version has a 78.80 percent score. Amazon customers give the game 4 to 4.5 stars out of 5, depending on the version.

According to SEGA, the following four content packs will be called Trauma, Safe Haven, Lost Contact and The Trigger. All four will include a new character to play, a number of new maps, and new game modes and objectives. Customers who purchase the Season Pass will get all five content packs for up to 25 percent off. All five content packs are expected to be released by March 2015.

Seems a little overpriced considering the base game came with 20 levels to get through for $50. $4.99 or $5.49 would be a better price IMO unless these new levels are just gigantic.
