Sharp launches 65" high-definition LCD monitor
Next newsAccording to the manufacturer, the PN-655 monitor offers full 1080p HD resolution, which should be enough to offer more accuracy in graphics and image reproduction than in most large-scale professional LCDs available today.
Sharp said that the monitor can display both computer and video content "flawlessly" and offers a "full" feature set of input and output connectors to show all types of content, from DVD to varying PC resolutions up through 1920 x 1080 native mode from both analog and digital (DVI) sources. The device comes with a cold-cathode fluorescent backlight that promises to provide an enhanced color spectrum including deeper and vivid red tones. The pixel response time of the PN-655 is rated at 6 ms.
Sharp equipped the monitor with several high-end features such as "black TFT/bright pixel elimination," which will hide failing pixels, the company said. There are also anti-glare and low-reflection functions that allow users to place the screen in bright light environments.
The PN-655 will be available in June of this year. Pricing has not been announced, but is expected to be significantly higher than the currently available and similarly equipped 45" model PN-455, which sells for about $9000.
