Via unveils Mini-ITX-based server cluster platform

Via announced its VIA Cluster Server Platform, which the company will market as an "ultra energy efficient high density server reference design" that will be based on VT310-DP Mini-ITX mainboards and dual 1 GHz Eden-N processors.

The reference platform uses two 1U rack units, each equipped with two mainboards which allows each unit to operate as two individual server nodes. Power consumption of the system is specified to be "up to a very low 1 kilowatt," which Via claims makes the platform "the performance per watt leader in its class."
