Why you can trust Tom's Hardware
Firmware
Colorful’s BIOS has a unique configuration compared to most other board partners. It does have an informational “EZ Mode” that displays high-level system information, including temperatures, voltage, fan and memory speeds, and more. There’s also an EZ OC function offering canned modes for energy savings or increased performance. The dark gray background with red accents and white writing allows for easy reading no matter what mode you’re in.
In the Advanced mode, status information is on the left, while editable options are on the right. This layout creates a lot of dead space and is not quite where other UEFIs are, but it is still plenty functional with many options. Across the top, in boxes, are the different sections in the ‘advanced’ portion of the BIOS. Here, you have an OC section (self-explanatory), Advanced where you can configure the system, a Tool section for BIOS updates and OC profiles, Boot, and Exit. While it doesn’t look like the others, all of the functionality you need, from overclocking to system and fan control, is in there.
Software
We’ve updated our test system to Windows 11 64-bit OS with all updates applied as of mid-October 2023. We kept the same Asus TUF RTX 3070 video card from our previous testing platforms but have updated the driver to the latest, keeping our games, F1 22 and Far Cry 6, the same. Unless otherwise noted, we use the latest non-beta motherboard BIOS available to the public using ‘optimized default’ settings except for the memory (XMP). The hardware and drivers we used are as follows:
