A Comparison of 34 Coolers for the AMD Athlon XP
Good Cooling Performance But Loud: TTC-D5T
At 80 millimeters, the cooler of the TTC-D5T has a larger profile, and although its 4200rpm make it a bit slower, its 60dB(A) mean it is also somewhat louder than the 70 mm cooler on the TTC-CU5 TB.
The cooler profile is made of aluminum and has relatively sharp edges. A three-way clip holds the cooler securely in place.
The base of the cooler is polished to a mirrored shine. In the middle sits a copper core, which is 35 millimeters in diameter and which, with a thickness of 6 millimeters, penetrates the base plate. First of all, it ensures speedy and efficient heat distribution throughout the entire cooler profile; second, it is situated directly in the cooler's airflow, which enhances the cooling performance.
During the test the temperature did not rise above 54°C (thermal resistance 0.45 °C/W). As already mentioned, however, a relatively high noise level accompanies this more than passable performance.
