Apple's Charger Takeback Program Also Available in UK

If you're in the UK and worried that your Apple charger might be faulty, Apple wants you to know the company will accept your charger and sell you a new one at a discounted rate to ease your concerns.

Apple's program will allow users to drop off their power adapter at any Apple retail store or at an authorized Apple Reseller starting August 16. The store will ensure the adapters are disposed of responsibly and, for a limited time, will offer customers a new adapter for £8 (normal price £15).

"If you need a replacement adapter to charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, we recommend getting an Apple USB power adapter. For a limited time, you can purchase one Apple USB power adapter at a special price — £8 GBP (inc. VAT)," the company said via its support pages. "To qualify, you must turn in at least one USB power adapter and bring your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to an Apple Retail Store or participating Apple Authorized Service Provider for serial number validation."

Apple also warned customers that it won't be able to verify the authenticity of customers' adapters, nor will it be able to advise them on the safety of their adapters. It seems a new adapter is your only option if you're worried about your current charger. Customers are limited to one adapter for each iPad, iPhone, or iPod they own and will have until October 18 to avail of this offer.
