SilverStone Announces Three New Argon CPU Coolers

Silverstone has released three new CPU coolers, which will make up part of the Argon-series and will work on all of Intel's and AMD's newest sockets.

The Argon AR01 is built using three 8 mm heatpipes that make direct contact with the CPU surface and carries a 120 mm PWM fan. In its entirety, it measures 120 x 75 x 159 mm.

The Argon AR02 is slightly compacter, but it has three 6 mm heatpipes. Instead of a 120 mm fan, it carries a 92 mm PWM fan. It measures 92 x 75 x 134 mm.

The Silverstone AR03 is the biggest of all the coolers, having six 6 mm heatpipes to handle heat transfer. It packs a 120 mm PWM fan that can be user-replaced with a 140 mm fan. Without a fan, it measures 140 x 50 x 159 mm.

At the time of writing, there is no word yet on pricing or availability.

  • The plastic pins holding the fan on the heatsink look cheap and could break easily.

Not a fan of the colouring, but good to see anti-vibration pins (not plastic @brickman, derp).

Yet another CM Hyper 212 clone...If priced along the same lines as the CM, it could be a good choice for some users.

Do you actually buy/not buy something like this because of how it looks? Sad!!

If it were considerably better, or considerably cheaper, than all comparable coolers, then I'd recommend it. All else being equal, why not go with something that doesn't make your computer look like a kludge?
