Thecus Expands NAS Line with N8800+ Rackmount

Last week Thecus revealed its N8800+ rackmount NAS server, a performance-oriented, 2U storage solution that's ready for 10 GB Ethernet speeds via an internal PCI-e 8X slot. The N8800+ is ideal for larger businesses trying to keep ahead of the competition, offering tons of storage and quick processing to keep companies on edge.

With eight SATA drive bays, the N8800+ provides up to 16 TB of storage. Companies requiring more space for their data center can merely purchase another N8800+ and stack them one on top of the other. However there is a limit--the overall configuration supports up to five N8800+ units, providing a mega-huge 80 TB of collective storage.

"All of this data can be protected via multiple RAID modes including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and JBOD, and these can be managed easily with online RAID expansion and migration," the company said.

Outside its storage capacity, the new NAS server features the Intel Celeron M processor and 2 GB of DDR2 memory. The N8800+ also includes the Thecus Dual DOM design, an optional redundant power supply, and support for iSCSI thin provisioning. Thecus added that it is now a member of the Technology Alliance Partner Program (TAP), making its N8800+ server officially VMware Ready certified.

"The age of the 10 GB corporate network is at hand, and the Thecus N8800+ is ready," the company said.
