Apple CEO Tim Cook Teases 'New Product Category'

Apple has never really been one to show its hand. The company is known for keeping a tight lid on any talk of upcoming products, refusing to comment on rumors, speculation or leaked photos. However, every now and again, the company throws us a bone, teasing us about what it's got in the pipeline.

The Verge reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook today promised some surprises for the fall and 2014. Specifically, Cook is said to have alluded to the launch of an entirely new product. According to the Verge, Cook teased "the potential of exciting new product categories," and said the teams at Apple are "hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services that we can't wait to introduce in the fall and into 2014." Of course, the mention of 2014 means Apple may not launch this new product in the fall.

So what could it be? Rumors of an Apple TV have been on the horizon for a long time. However, there's also been a lot of talk of an Apple smartwatch as of late, as well as an iRadio. Apple announced the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S in the fall of 2011 and 2012, respectively, but the company is expected to announce an iPhone 5S this coming summer.
