At Sony’s E3 press conference last year, Guerrilla Games, known for its work on the Killzone franchise, revealed its next project, titled Horizon Zero Dawn. The gameplay video showcased a female character named Aloy who lives in a future where modern civilization collapsed and mechanical beasts roam the Earth. Since the game’s reveal, the developers haven’t said much about it, but today, the company released another trailer to show off Aloy’s story. However, the video came with an announcement that the game was delayed until February 28, 2017.
The development team’s reason for the delay was to allow more time to improve on the game’s visuals and gameplay mechanics. “The new date allows us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn,” said Hermen Hulst, the managing director at Guerrilla Games.
In the meantime, you can learn more about Aloy and the world around her. She’s seen by her people as an outcast for an unknown reason. However, that doesn’t stop her from being an effective warrior. She’s not afraid of the dangers that she encounters every day, and she wants to prove her worth to her tribe. As she travels across vast fields and crumbling city blocks, she’ll have to face human and mechanical enemies as she discovers the truth about her past.
Even with the delay, there’s a chance that fans may see the game as early as next week. E3 is right around the corner, and Sony always has a giant booth on the show floor where it shows the latest games as well as some of its other upcoming products, such as PlayStation VR.
