Maxtor unveils new network storage device for Macs

Maxtor has shown off its new Shared Storage Plus device for the Mac at this week's Macworld in San Francisco. The network storage drive allows Mac users to backup their photos, videos and other files. A print server is also integrated.

Despite being shown off at Macworld, the new drive will also support PCs. Two USB ports allow users to attach additional storage devices or up to two USB printers. Maxtor says that up to the drive can handle up to 20 simultaneous users. Media packrats may appreciate the "Drag and Sort" feature which automatically sorts more than 100 media types into separate folders. Maxtor also includes automatic backup software.

The device should be available next month and depending on what capacity you buy, will cost between $300 and $500.
