Synthetic Benchmarks
The PC Mark results favor the iBuypower 942IL, but not by huge margins. The System, CPU, Graphics, and Hard Drive performance benchmarks go to the iBuypower system. The Reactor takes the memory performance benchmark, probably because the DDR2 latencies are lower than those of the GDDR3 on the 942IL.
Sysmark results show the 942IL in a better light, with some notable wins, but the Reactor manages to take the lead in the e-learning benchmark.
The Sandra XII CPU benchmark is clearly multithreaded, as it heavily favors the quad-core QX9770 CPU over the faster-clocked E8400 in the Reactor. However, the Reactor manages to win the memory performance benchmark once again, showing that the lower latency of DDR2 is favored over the higher clock-speed of GDDR3.
The 3dMark scoring is interesting. It’s pretty close, but we can see a trend: the high CPU clock speed of the Reactor gives it a slight edge at lower resolutions, but the 942IL catches up as resolution is increased This trend is likely thanks to a slight performance advantage of the 9800 GTX cards. This advantage is greatly reduced when 4x anti-aliasing is used, but it’s still there.
