Linksys Wireless-B Media Adapter (WMA11B)
Cisco subsidiary Linksys is among the first to offer a media player with an integrated wireless LAN access point according to the 802.11b standard. That gives you a maximum gross transfer rate of 11 Mbit/s, or about 5 to 5.5 Mbit/s net. While that should be sufficient to transmit MPEG-1/2 videos in (S)VCD quality from a strictly theoretical standpoint, the Linksys Media Adapter can only play back MP3 and WMA audio files as well as photos and images in JPEG, GIF, TIF and BMP format. The unit's extra RJ-45 connection for connecting to a (Fast) Ethernet network won't help you there, either. Price: €170/$150. Conclusion: The Wireless-B Media Adapter is nothing more than a wireless MP3/WMA player cum digital slide projector - for the same price you can get a DVD burner and a proper DVD player that can do the same thing.
Weak: just 802.11b and no video support. Linksys Wireless-B Media Adapter only plays audio and displays images.
