UK to Get Galaxy S3 Mini with NFC This Month
A new model just a couple of months after the launch of the original.
CES was filled with super-sized phones pushing the phablet trend started by Samsung's Galaxy Note, and the market for more sensibly-sized phones is still thriving. Though 5-inch phones will soon be nothing special, there is still plenty of room for phones measuring in at four inches or smaller. Late last year, Samsung announced the Galaxy S3 Mini for Germany and other parts of Europe. Now it looks like the UK is set to get the NFC version of the S3 Mini.
Crave reports that Samsung is preparing to launch a refreshed version of the S3 Mini with the same NFC capabilities other Galaxy users enjoy. Samsung's implementation of NFC uses the company's S Beam software to transfer files of up to 10MB easily from one device to another. Larger files require a WiFi connection. According to Crave, Samsung has yet to confirm whether or not the S3 Mini with NFC will be more expensive than the regular S3 Mini.
The Galaxy S3 Mini packs a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, a 4-inch, WVGA AMOLED screen, 8 or 16GB (up to 32GB of external via microSD), a 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing camera for video chat, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, GPS, and NFC. At its unveiling, Samsung said it was inspired to create a smaller Galaxy S III after research indicated a strong desire for the 4-inch form factor.

SchizoFrog I think it is disgusting that Samsung can get away with calling this an S3 Mini when apart from the software it shares nothing in common with it's bigger brother. The specs and size are that of a phone a couple of years old and they are getting away with advertising it as a new model.Reply -

Sometimes "mini" could just mean "smaller." -

Why should I not expect the same or at least close specs to the original S3? The naming is purely to dupe people.Reply
Mini isn't just smaller teh_chem as the phone is completely different. So what is your point? -
