Research In Motion has announced that the firm is extending an existing patent licensing agreement with InterDigital to cover 4G LTE technology.
Due to the renewed contract, the former will be able to utilize InterDigital's patents in its upcoming slate of BlackBerry 10 products, which are to be announced at the end of this month.
RIM CEO Thorsten Heins has previously stressed that one of the company's mistakes is its slow approach pertaining to integrating 4G to its products.
InterDigital, a wireless R&D company based in Philadelphia, said the agreement represents a further validation of its patent portfolio and licensing program.
RIM will launch BlackBerry 10 on January 30, with the company set to reveal the first smartphones powered by the platform on the same date.
