Toshiba Shipping 10-inch Tegra 2 Tablet to Europe

Toshiba's Folio 100 was announced in early September and packing Nvidia's Tegra 2, 16GB of built-in storage, SD card expansion, HDMI out, 802.11n WiFi, a 1.3 megapixel webcam and Android 2.2 (with custom Toshiba UI), it turned a lot of heads.

Today, the Folio 100 is shipping to Europe with a range of different prices. Engadget reports that Germany is getting the Folio sans 3G for €429. Those not willing to give up 3G can expect to pay €529. Italian customers are getting a slightly better deal with prices of €399 and €499, and UK buyers will be able to purchase the 3G-less model for £329 (€379).

Last we heard, the Folio 100 wouldn't be coming to the U.S. at all, but you never know, if the sales are good, Toshiba might change its mind.

I guess this kinda contradicts the other article, that was stating that Android will be cannibalized by ipad.
Good news here, and proves my point in the comments of Kevin's article.
    Thank you, Jane.

Someone is finally shipping a potential iPad competitor. Similar specs, similar price.

once these come out, the second iPad will be out and will most likely be better. Either way, the iPad has a nice lead with much developer support. Its a good thing for the consumer and a great thing for Apple...just saying.

  • They have launched it without flash! we will have to wait for an update, got it home and opened the box to find a leaflet telling me to register for an update! What a poor show and Toshiba are not sure when it is coming.

Why do I get modded down for telling the truth about the iPads lead and developer support? Thats what Republicans do when they dont like the truth, lol

Why is the U.S. being left out? A dying consumer market? Politics? Potential lawsuit?

Us consumers are not that sophisticated. The crapple craze proves that that they go for shit packaged in nice casing. Regardless of the specs.
