LoveFilm Gets Exclusive On The Walking Dead for UK

Part of competing in the TV streaming business is getting your hands on content that other services don't have and Amazon's LoveFilm today announced that it's beat streaming giant Netflix to a big one: The Walking Dead.

The super popular zombie survival series has been on television since the Fall of 2010 and is available on Netflix in the United States. However, Netflix customers in the United Kingdom don't have access to the show and it looks like things are going to stay that way for the time being. LoveFilm today revealed that it's just signed an exclusive agreement for The Walking Dead.

"Securing the exclusive streaming rights to The Walking Dead is another exciting development for us," said Chris Bird, Director of Film Strategy at LoveFilm. "It is seriously impressive that the show has become one of the most-watched drama series in basic US cable history, and a real testament to its quality. We are thrilled to bring this great content to our members, especially as we are the only subscription service in the country to do so."

LoveFilm says season one of the show is available for LoveFilm Instant subscribers starting today. Additional seasons will appear on the service over the next 18 months. There are currently three seasons in the Walking Dead series. Season four is starting this coming October.

Companies need to stop this exclusivity crap. I want to be able to say the title of any movie, tv series, magazine, comic book, song, or game and have it instantly start running on whatever device I'm currently looking at.
