Kingston Launches HyperX Gaming Headset for $100

Back in February, we caught up with Kingston at MWC to check out its HyperX Cloud gaming headphones. At the time, the company was happy to talk details but refused to discuss a specific release date or pricing. The company had told us we could expect an April launch and is now coming across the finish line (just by the skin of its teeth; we were actually told early April, but we won't split hairs).

The HyperX Cloud headset is the product of a collaboration with Swedish company QPad. In actuality, the headphones are a rejigged version of the QH-90 from QPad. When we talked to Kingston earlier this year, the company was quick to point out all the ways that Kingston changed these headphones before releasing them as the HyperX Cloud gaming headset. Thanks to these modifications, users buying these headphones can expect memory foam ear cups, a light-weight aluminum frame, a detachable mic, and 53 mm drivers. There's also a padded headband and an inline controller with a volume wheel, a slide button for mic on/off, and a mic mute button. More details below:

Kingston today announced the release of the HyperX Cloud. While the company didn't offer a price point in its press release, Newegg currently has the headphones up for $99.99. This is right in line with the 'approximately $100' figure we were offered in Spain in February. A cursory glance at Google Shopping suggests folks in the United Kingdom can expect to pay under £75.

Looks a nice design, but what makes a "Gaming Headset"?

Glad to see I'm not the only guy who clicked on the link because of the girl in the photo. It's okay, I'm pretty sure my wife would be like, "daamn, she's cute!"

I don't feel the headset does her justice. HyperX cannot begin to describe all that she may be, as she crests the fields of battle and slays the Horde.

While I totally agree with all the praise for author. Subtlety is not a tech fanatics strong suit. :)

That being said. I find myself more impressed by the wearer than the worn.
Super pricey headset, remains to be seen if its worth the price, if it follows normal Kingston HyperX trends, it won't be.

Jane, I admire the patients / tolerance with this bunch's adoration of you.
