Medal of Honor Reboot Info, New Screenshots

Wednesday Electronic Arts said that its popular FPS franchise Medal of Honor was "ready for another tour of duty." However, the game's October 12 launch will actually be a reboot of sorts (since that seems to be the trend in everything these days), taking the franchise out of World War II for the first time since the launch of the franchise, and throwing gamers into a modern-day war-torn Afghanistan "seen through the lens of a small band of fictional characters."

"Players will be introduced to the Tier 1 Operator, an elite warrior and relatively unknown instrument of the U.S. Military that operates under the National Command Authority, taking on missions no one else can handle," the company said.

The single-player campaign is currently in development over at Electronic Arts in Los Angeles (EALA). The studio has been working with Tier 1 Operators from the U.S. Special Operations Community to create "the most authentic modern war experience possible." EALA has also enlisted EA Digital Illusions CE AB for the multiplayer aspect. Yep, this should be good.

In addition to the announcement, EA also threw up a new video called "Leave a Message" for registered EA accounts over on the official, re-launched MoH website. Ten screenshots were released as well which can be seen below. Medal of Honor is expected to hit the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this October.

  • Sigh, I almost hoped we could play through the eyes of an insurgent there.

The single player is being created by a separate EA studio in LA.

I just hope that the two studios are working closely together. Would suck if the single player is amazing and then the multiplayer sucks, or vice versa. Or if the MP feels like a completely different game than the SP.

lol, everything EA do and say is hilarious. they were saying that "oh, MOH lost its way, it used to be cutting edge and innovative, but it lost all that as the series has declined, but with this reboot we are going to bring all the innovation back!... by shamelessly ripping off MW and mindlessly jumping on the same bandwagon..."
