SilverStone Introduces ST1000-PT, ST1200-PT Platinum PSUs

According to SilverStone, its Strider Platinum series includes the world's smallest 80 PLUS Platinum, fully-modular ATX power supplies. The newest additions in this line are the ST1000-PT and ST1200-PT units, and now the members of this family are six in total, with capacities ranging from 550W to 1.2 kW.

Both new high-end Strider Platinum units have restricted dimensions, with only 18cm depth, and are compatible with the ATX12V v2.4 spec, which is the most recent. On top of that, they are equipped with a full protection set, and a 139mm Air Penetrator fan handles their cooling, while a semi-fanless operation ensures the zero noise output under light and moderate loads.

Enhance Electronics High Power builds the new Strider Platinum units along with the ST85-PT, whereas the three lower-capacity members of this family are made by Sirtec. As is often the case with most PSU implementations nowadays, the ST1000-PT and ST1200-PT are rated at 40 ºC for continuous full power delivery; the ATX spec recommends at least 50 ºC. Nonetheless, in our experience, most mid/high-end platforms don't have a problem operating at higher than 40 ºC ambient temperatures. The only downside is the fan profile, which gets aggressive at high operating temperatures.

The ST1000-PT is equipped with two EPS and six PCIe connectors, along with a huge number of peripheral connectors (16x SATA, 6x 4-pin Molex and 2x Bergs). The ST1200-PT has the same number of connectors with the exception of two additional PCIe connectors, reaching eight in total. Finally, both units are shipped along with a FF141 magnetized fan filter.
