Maxtor's entry also features NCQ and a 16 MB cache. It is available in UltraATA models which can provide data transfer rates of up to 133 MB/s, or Serial ATA 300 models with up to 300 MB/s of interface bandwidth. The DiamondMax 11 showcases the latest mechanical platform from Maxtor and also features shock/data protection systems. The stated warranty for the DiamondMax series of hard drives is three years.
It is important to note that Seagate has acquired Maxtor, effective May 22, 2006. There is sure to be a lot of technology shared between product development teams and integration of the two companies is expected to be completed in early 2007. According to the Maxtor website, 50% of their worldwide staff will be offered positions with the new company.
