Just Cause 2 Demo Released Next Week

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

The demo of Just Casue 2 lands on Steam next week.

Square Enix announced early Friday that a playable demo of Just Cause 2 will be available on Steam next week. The demo thrusts players into the Launtan Lama Desert, 35 square miles of pure sun-scorched scenery, and one of many islands players will explore in the full retail game.

Square Enix promised that the demo will have loads to accomplish: devastate military bases, assassinate a military colonel, unlock a multi-stage mission, and more. "It’s easily one of the biggest freeroaming demos of all time and for fans of openworld games, it’s unmissable," said Lee Singleton, General Manager of Square Enix London Studios.

Unfortunately, the PC version will not support Windows XP. Frustrated PC gamers will need to check out Just Cause 2 on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 when the demo launches March 4. The full game hits retail stores on March 23.

A true gamer would already be running the latest Windows OS, or so I'd think.

You can still buy $30~ish product keys on ebay. (as long as you can get an installation disc) My rule of thumb has been to find a buy it now one that has a bunch of positive feedback already. All the ones I've bought have activated just fine.

I bet they're releasing these this way to get higher numbers of people using windows 7.

Seriously if so called "gamers" are still back in the stone age (XP) they need to get with it and upgrade! It doesn't cost much (they were practically giving away 7 Pro upgrades to students) to upgrade to Windows 7! There have been student discounts, preorder discounts, and there are family packs. Hell, you can get a full OEM windows 7 pros for $125!

XP was good for its time but it is now time to move on!

The game looks pretty cool. I'll definitely hit up the demo when it comes out.

There is nothing wrong with that sentence. It's just that Kevin is a time traveler.

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree. I don't think anyone should complain about this DX10 feature. The game itself will be $50, and WIN 7 can be found for less. The only people that will complain are people with dx9 hardware, and I can't even remember the last time we had that... HD 4850 can be had for ~$100

They can put their game where the sun doesn't shine if they think I'm spending $100+ on an OS I don't need or want just to play it. What are these people thinking?

The first one was quite fun. Not as good as GTA:SA but about as playable as GTA:VC. I'll be looking forward for this one.
