Abit intros Intel quad-core motherboard

Next news
1:04 PM - August 18, 2006 by The Editors of Tom's Hardware

Abit announced its AW9D and AW9D-MAX motherboards which can be used with Intel's current LGA775 processors such as the Pentium D and Core 2 Duo as well as future quad-core versions of the Core 2 Extreme CPU ("Kentsfield"). Both boards are based on Intel's 975X chipset and support Nvidia SLI and ATI Crossfire multi-GPU technologies. The differences between the tow models are very subtle -the AW9D-MAX integrates seven instead of the AW9D 's four SATA ports as well as two PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet ports instead of only one.

Pricing has not been announced.
