Intel To Develop Integrated Connectivity I/O System For Mobile Devices
Intel plans to consolidate various I/O connector interfaces, including eSATA, USB and IEEE 1394, currently found in a number of mobile devices into an ubiquitous connectivity system using optical fiber technology, Kevin Kahn, Intel senior fellow and director of Intel communications technology lab, said recently before the opening of 2008 IDF Shanghai. The effort is part of Intel's "Carry Small, Live Large" technology development plan, aiming to produce small, powerful mobile devices which are capable of offering multifaceted functionalities, Kahn noted.
