The widescreen monitor panel market is expected to heat up this year, as AU Optronics (AUO) and HannStar Display plan to roll out 19" widescreen panels, with respective launch dates in March and May.
AUO has rolled out widescreen panel models for 20" and above segments, and the company expects demand for widescreen LCD monitor panels to total 13-18 million panels this year, accounting for 10-15% of the global LCD monitor panel market, with 19- and 20" segments to each account for about half of the shipments, AUO said.
