For less than 25 bucks, as long as you're using the discount code SAMSUNGFIVE at checkout, you're getting 256GB of Samsung NAND flash memory that can handle transfer speeds of up to 400 MB/s. That means you'll be able to transfer files much faster than you would using an ultra-fast UHS-I microSD card, all in a device that remains small and portable enough for you to physically transport with you, anywhere you go.

This drive is fully backwards compatible with older USB generations, too, so you can plug it into an older USB-A 2.0 or 3.0 port (with a suitable USB-A to USB-C adapter). You'll need to use a USB Gen 3.2 Gen 1 port to hit the advertised 400 MB/s, which Samsung reckons will allow you to transfer 4GB files in approximately 11 seconds.

Despite being small in physical size, this drive is particularly rugged for the demands of regular travel. Samsung claims that it's waterproof, shock-proof, magnet-proof, temperature-proof, and X-ray proof. It also includes a five-year limited warranty.

As someone who was quite resistant to switching to USB-C, I've found devices like this one much easier to use — the reversible plug makes it much easier to insert, especially in those tough-to-reach spots behind the back of a PC. It also makes it much easier to connect to my phone, and with many smartphones now shipping with USB-C ports, it makes it much easier to move photos and videos between my devices without the need for additional cables.

256GB of storage, meanwhile, is a decent size for a big collection of photos, files, and even 12 hours of 4K video.
