Huawei's new phone was more leaky than a sieve the past weeks, but at last we can happily announce that the Ascend P6 is finally official. What makes the phone so special? It is currently the thinnest smartphone on the market, according to the company, measuring an astounding 6.18 mm.
What makes this phone so spectacular is that the company not only managed to make the phone thin, but also fit a decent collection of hardware in it. With the 4.7 inch screen comes a 720p resolution, as well as a quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage (albeit with a microSD expansion slot for up to 32 GB of external storage). Despite the small size and 120g weight, Huawei has managed to fit in a rather decent 8 MPx camera using a BSI lens with a 4 cm macro and F/2.0 aperture. The forward camera is a mere 5 MP, but how much more do you need to take decent pictures of yourself?
Equipped with a 2,000 mAh battery, the phone utilizes Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 as well as Huawei's Emotion UI, which allows the phone to utilize Dolby Digital plus sounds. Connectivity comes in the form of a Dual-Sim HSPA+/UMTS/GSM connection, FM radio, Bluetooth and, of course, WiFi, while 4G LTE is unfortunately lacking. The phone will be available starting in China and the EU, with hopes of expanding to the United States soon. Pricing is still unavailable, although we imagine the stack of cash it would cost you would probably be thicker than the device itself.
