MSI Talks More About Big Bang Marshal

MSI unveiled to a filled banquette hall sized room this evening information on its Big Bang Marshal series of motherboards. Based on Intel's new "Sandy Bridge" P67 chipset, the massive board supports a total of eight PCI-e slots, four of which can operate at x16 at the same time, or all eight at x8.

Reps from MSI told us that the Big Bang Marhsal is designed with the serious overclocker in mind. After receiving feedback from overclockers, MSI integrated several dip switches that actually disable individual PCI-e x16 slots. MSI claims that this is a feature in heavy demand by overclockers. The board has one dip switch for each slot and calls the feature PCI-e CeaseFire.

Also designed onto the board is a set of more switches that help with voltage control.

Interestingly, MSI boasts heavily about having three BIOS chips on the board -- just in case, a total of two blows. We can soon expect other motherboards with four or more BIOSes at this point. But, you do get peace-of-mind.

More details to follow as they come. We'll have a bigger feature about Big Bang Marshal soon from Thomas.

MSI sucks, the extra slots are spares when the others fail, 3 bios's are for this also.
