One of the biggest Computex 2014 surprises was tucked away in back booth M1324, where all the companies that can't or won't spend for big retail presence play. This is where experienced convention goers often find the things you never knew you wanted.
G-Alantic got our attention with a display filled with brushed, anodized aluminum cases of simple yet elegant design. The GA-6702 looked particularly good for home theater / media server applications, but the company had a more business-oriented market in mind.
Rather than admit that some home theater types might be interested in a backplane that allows easy removal of both 3.5" and 2.5" drives, a representative directed us towards even slimmer models. It seems the idea of playing games at super-high details on a super-large screen had never occurred to them.
The slim cases are equally lovely for those who don't want to load their media player with devices that do things besides media playback, but some of those configurations might also perform acceptably on NUC hardware. G-Atlantic had news there too.
The GA-5701 is certainly a hot looking case with enough space for a 2.5" drive upgrade and some cool performance.
