Mighty No. 9 isn't out until February 9, 2016, but that's not stopping the game's publisher, Deep Silver, from showing a new trailer for the game. Aside from the usual campaign experience, the 2D side-scrolling game will also include additional modes to ensure replayability.
At the top of the list is Boss Rush, where you have consecutive battles against all of the game's bosses, thereby removing all the extra levels between each encounter. There's also a traditional Challenge mode in which the player's skills are tested in new levels. If you deem both to be too easy, you can try your luck in Maniac mode, where one hit from an enemy can kill you.
The developers also included other modes that require you to play with a friend. The Co-Op challenge will test the unique abilities of the game's main characters, Beck and Call, as they work together to beat enemies and finish levels. On the competitive side, there's Online Race Battle, where you attempt to finish the game's main levels against another player. The one with the highest points at the end of the run wins the challenge.
For those unfamiliar with the game, the development process is led by Keiji Inafune (of Mega Man fame), and many consider this title to be spiritual successor to the franchise. A Kickstarter campaign was launched for the game in August 2013, with the developers asking for $900,000. Instead, they received over $3.8 million in funding, and the game is coming to PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation Vita and the Nintendo 3DS.
