Unlike the comedic, and sometimes treacherous, rooms of the Portal series, The Talos Principle puts players in a similar puzzle-solving situation, but with a mysterious backstory that involves a few layers of philosophy, thanks to the omnipotent being in the skies appropriately named Elohim. The original game contained a multitude of puzzles across a small number of levels, with each one pushing the difficulty bar a little higher. However, the journey isn't over yet, as a new DLC is on the way on July 23.
Road to Gehenna will have players taking on the role of Uriel (named after the archangel), a messenger of Elohim. The expansion will take place across four episodes and will see the gold-plated android tackle a new set of puzzles, as well as a completely different part of Elohim's simulation. However, early screenshots show variations on the same crumbling structures as the original game.
The game's original writers, Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes, will also return to pen the story for the new DLC, so players can expect the same narrative caliber as before.
Road to Gehenna will be available simultaneously for PC, Mac and Linux players on July 23, but there's no set price yet for the game. This will be the first expansion focused on providing brand new puzzles for the game. In the past, only the Prototype DLC offered "new" puzzles, which were actually created during the early development stages, as well as for the beta version. However, these were initially cut from the final game.
