UK Supermarket Tesco Confirms Ultra Cheap Android Tablet
We've been hearing rumors about UK supermarket chain Tesco launching its own tablet over the last few weeks. On Monday, the company made it official and unveiled the much talked about Hudl tablet.
As the rumors predicted, the Tesco Hudl is a 7-inch tablet based on Google's Android operating system. It's got a 1440 x 900 resolution, runs on a quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU and features 16 GB of storage, a microSD slot, WiFi, speakers, a 3-megapixel camera, and a battery that lasts nine hours (at least, according to Tesco it does). The device is Archos-made and priced extremely competitively, ringing in at just £119. This undercuts 7-inch offerings from both Amazon and Google.
The Hudl is available in black, pink, purple and blue and has a rubberized back for easy grip. The whole thing runs on Android 4.2.2 and comes with multiple Tesco apps pre-installed, including apps for Blinkbox, the video on demand service Tesco owns, grocery shopping (from Tesco, obviously), and the supermarket's loyalty program.
The Hudle will be available in Tesco stores starting September 30, which is next Monday.
