1.5 TB Low-Power HDDs: Green Gets Big

Benchmark Results: PCMark Vantage Application Benchmark

Thanks to its quicker access time and I/O performance, WD delivers better performance in the gaming benchmark.

Video editing requires high throughput, giving Samsung an advantage here.

The Vista startup benchmark requires both quick access time and high transfer rates. Since WD delivers better access time and I/O without being significantly slower in throughput, the WD15EADS is quicker in this benchmark. Of course, 7,200 RPM drives are still clearly superior.

Overall Score

Overall, both drives are extremely close to one another. WD leads, but you’ll see that Samsung requires less power in many benchmarks.
