Could the ATI DirectX 11 card be launching on September 10? Could be!
Earlier this year during June, AMD demonstrated at Computex the first DirectX 11 GPU, and most recently at Quakecon, the chip maker is showing off its latest silicon once again.
Expreview got a hold of an AMD presentation from Quakecon that reads, "On Thursday, September 10, 2009, you won't believe your eyes… Please join us as we unveil a new PC experience. Formal invitation with more details to come."
Given the timing of the slide and the recent demonstration of the ATI "Evergreen" DX11 hardware, it's a safe assumption that AMD will be launching something next month.

About damn time, I've been waiting ages to replace my 8800GT.
5800 series incoming?
lol me too
O le crap, I was hoping to see at least a nvidia peep about GT300, guess 58xx it is....
now if the ATI AIBs stop being gay and offer good lifetime overclock w voltmod warranties then I would stop complaining where GT300 is....
DirectX 11 is the most anticipated directx version by me ever.
It's about time to show some PC muscles to all those console gamers, and about time for a PC comeback ...
Wow replace an 8800 GT? That's a great new card still. My ATI Radeon 9700 pro is becoming a bit outdated though.
5800 series incoming?
Let's hope so and that it blows the 4800 series away.
40 nm.. It's so close I can smell it with my tentacles.
Ahhh but when will the DX11 games be out? 2-3 years?
If the 4770 is any indication, I look forward to high-end 40nm GPU's.

The purple one or the green one?
/queue mental image of the movie Legend of Overfiend.. /cringe

DX11 games have been in development for a long time the first DX11 games are due out before the end of the year and the show piece DX11 title Starcraft 2 due Q1 2010.
To bad the AMD CPU is still a bottleneck on high end graphics cards.
Looking forward to the next CPU from AMD
Hmmm, I just replaced my 8800GT for a GTX260 with 896MB of RAM - Runs pretty damn good for me. Although, I didn't fork any money out for it, technically speaking. Always nervous to "jump" on new products based on past experiences. Man, I remember my NVIDIA Geforce 2 Ultra - sweet! Hope AMD is releasing a card that actually MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Uggh

Did you check out the new upcoming Catalyst 9.8 drivers? Big news there (gaming improvements) with an AMD CPU combined with their graphics cards.
Its good so the 4800 family gets cheaper
Damnit haha. Just my luck... looks like I should return that brand new 4890 that should arrive at my house on wednesday and wait just a little longer.
Must...resist...upgrade...urge...little...longer....
but can it max out Crysis?
^ lol
The purple one or the green one?
DotT ftw.

SIGH! I got my 4890 over a month ago, I love it to death but i was really waiting on the 5xxx series, but couldn't wait much longer
I'm not gonna buy a new card for DX11 I just got a GTX 260 so it will last a while.
All in all I'm excited about this.
I know we are all hoping and wishing the cards are spectacular, so that Nvidia will release something similar and the battle for best card will keep prices reasonable and keep both companies driving forward.
It will be very interesting when Larabee is introduced to the mix as well.
I thought that they were going to delay due to yield problems. I still haven't seen any 4730s or 4790s and there is still inventory of 4800 series cards out there. I wonder if AMD will really launch next month, but I sure would like it if they do. Looks like the time is coming when I'll finally replace my two 3850s.

As wonderful as that sounds it will have nothing to do with DX11. Quality titles and lots of them would help, along with hardware that was more easily attainable/useable/appropriate for the masses. Don't forget that DX10 was supposed to be fantastic and the very few titles released under it were all just as good in DX9.
DX11 games have been in development for a long time the first DX11 games are due out before the end of the year and the show piece DX11 title Starcraft 2 due Q1 2010.
No, no, no. Crysis was under development (along with the first Call of Juarez and Lost Planet) as a DX10 title. The first gen of DX10 hardware couldn't run the games well and overall it wasn't worth the premium. DX11 games might have been in development but it doesn't mean they are good, or that they're not going to be more concerned with reaching a mass audience. StarCraft 2 will be as graphically sub-par as every other Blizzard release just so that it will be playable on EVERYTHING under the sun. At the most you'll get some stupid particle/lighting/stupid effect that no one cares about. Plus, it won't be out in Q1 of 2010. The chances of even having a SOLID StarCraft 2 release date by Q1 2010 are worse than the chances I'll sprout wings and fly away after winning the Powerball lottery.

You want to really see gaming improvements with your CPU? Buy an i7.
I, also am waiting to see what the 5xxx series holds for us.. I will be upgrading my 8800gt. It is a good card.. but I fell it is starting to show it's age a bit in some games i play
well well well, looks like my xfire 3870s have met the end of their lives. message me if you wanna buy the pair for $120
tempting rambo, seriously I was going to get something to let me play till december time, but now, things have changed, no point in getting old tech ;D
Long live AMD.
