Chassis from Lian Li, NZXT Designed for Gamers
Two new unique chassis for gamers and HTPC enthusiasts hit the market.
Both NZXT and Lian Li revealed new PC cases designed with gamers and movie buffs in mind. Although neither chassis offering sports a high "wow" factor in appearance, the NZXT Vulcan M-ATX and the Lian Li TYR PC-X2000F are uniquely designed, with the former made for portability and the latter designed to fit within a home theater setup.
Available May 20, the NZXT Vulcan M-ATX features a unique carrying handle mounted at the top, making it easy for users to carry the rig to LAN parties or other events. Surprisingly, the handle doesn't really look out of place, fitting in with the chassis' overall hardened, black appearance. The case has a compact size of 16 x 7 x 16.6-inches, and comes packed with dual 5.25-inch slots and four 3.5-inch slots (internal and external). It can also house a 350-mm video card (like the ATI Radeon HD 5970) at the very least.
As for the Lian Li TYR PC-X2000F, the chassis was designed for both the gamer and HTPC enthusiast, however its design favors the latter category. This chassis is substantially bigger than the NZXT Vulcan, offering four "tool-less" 5.25-inch sliding bays with access on both sides of the rig, and seven "tool-less" hard drive sliding mounting racks. Behind the sleek, front cover you'll find three 140-mm silent intake fans, with the Fan Speed Control switch mounted on the back panel of the chassis.
Lian Li said that the TYR Pc-X2000F will sell for $539 USD, and may be available now. Although NZXT said that the Vulcan will hit the market on May 20, currently the chassis' pricetag is unknown.
Two angry camels in a tiny car.
I like the look of the lian li, too expensive though.
The nzxt looks alright, anyone know how much it will cost though?
i doubt there would be a 903 since they wanted the 902 to be similar to the 1200. so both would need to change i guess. and some other designs with different names would be introduced.
lian li is fine but who would buy a $500+ case?
It's not normal for people to have different tastes? It's not normal to want to stand out? Personally, I'm happy with my $60 Rosewill Destroyer with an NZXT Sentry 2 on the front. Not too flashy, but a little bit of glow and a nice readout.
... Do have to say I'm going for a complete UV-reactive and lit liquid-cooled case next year.
