The minimum specifications for the upcoming PC version of Wolfenstein appeared on the official forums.
Yesterday id Software's Peter Sokai revealed the minimum system requirements for the upcoming PC version of Wolfenstein. According to his forum post, fans will need an Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ processor, 1 GB RAM, and a 256 MB Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT or ATI Radeon X800 graphics card. In addition to a required HDD space of 8 GB (plus an additional 800 MB for the Windows swap file), the minimum requirements call for Windows XP or Windows Vista, DirectX 9.0c, a DVD-ROM, a 100-percent DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card, and a broadband connection for the multiplayer portion.
In other Wolfenstein-related news, MTV Multiplayer is reporting that the single-player campaign will feature 1,638.4 Nazi deaths. According to the blog, the game tracks how many Nazis gamers actually kill via the Statistics section. The high number was calculated based on a screenshot provided by Activision, depicting an overall 36-percent progress and 639 Nazi deaths. 'I was able to determine that, upon reaching 100-percent completion, you’ll have killed exactly 1,638.4 Nazis in a variety of ways,' Frushtick wrote. 'Granted this doesn’t factor in replaying missions (which is almost certainly required to get to 100-percent completion) but hey, math isn’t an exact science!'
Currently Wolfenstein is slated for an August 4, 2009 release. Developed for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 by Raven Software, the game uses a heavily modified version of id Software's id Tech 4, the engine used in Doom 3 and Quake 4. The multiplayer aspect is in development over at Endrant Studios, and is expected to be similar to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

Guess my back PC (athlon 3000 with 1950GT) is officially outdated and can't hack this. Well, I'll try it anyway even if I have to overclock the CPU again to play on low
. It will be interesting to see what Ravensoft has done with Wolfenstien.
DAMMIT my Intel Extreme(ly Poor) Graphics cant play it! Your out again there Intel, thank god i got my trusty old 8800GT
Those are MINIMUM requirements BTW.
You can bet if you want to play it all nice and shiny you'll probably need a Quad-Core CPU and at LEAST a GTX 260 or higher video card.
"I was able to determine that, upon reaching 100-percent completion, you'll have killed exactly 1,638.4 Nazis in a variety of ways,"
How exactly do you kill .4 of a Nazi?
How exactly do you kill .4 of a Nazi?
That one was probably REALLY short.
"Math isn't a exact science"??
I lol'd.....
Mavroxur:
It probably won't be needing a GTX 260 or higher at all, since it is based on the really old id Tech 4 engine. Yes, modified, but still not a complete overhaul. I'm guessing that the old trusty 8800 GT will be sufficient enough to play it at 1920*1200, maxed out!
Blow off an arm. And he dies of a heart attack.
This doesn't seem like anything surprising. Pentium 4s and 256MB graphics have been the minimum for a lot of games in the past year.
god damn, my sound card is only 97.4% DirectX 9.0c compatible
by my calculations it's 1775 nazis...so i guess he was just pushing a funny number

GTX260 for the DoomIII engine? LMAO.
You sir, are an idiot.
No mention of Linux, looks like it could be another game i'll never buy or play.
Guess I don't need 1600+ "nazi deaths" in my house anyways ....

Every other id tech game has been thrown on linux; I bet this one will be too.
If not, a good use of WINE only drops fps 5-10% anyway. =]
WTF, you morons. You published that 1638.4 Nazi shit?
Pull your heads out of your asses, and behave like a friggen journalist instead of some airy teenage blogger with the credentials of a grapefruit.
639 kills @ 36% completion... Geez, let's divide by 0.36 and see what happens. Voila, 1775 Nazis @ 100%.
Now, to be fair, that 36% figure is the product of rounding. We can only say with certainty it is between 35.5% and 36.5%. Taking this into account, we can say with absolute certainty that the game features no less than 1750 Nazis and no more than 1800, with an expected average of 1775 Nazi deaths upon completion.
(And yes, I get that blogger was sarcastic. It simply was not funny.)
that assumes that there are the same amount of nazies in the start of the game and at the end. Most games throw more guys at you at the end because you have the kick ass weapons.
I have a 9800 GTX nvidia card. SB xtreme gamer card. 4 gigs ram, Vista Ult 64 bit. My question is will my Duel core intel E8400 CPU run the game?
So Wolfenstien is

I like you math!
Well I'm dumb I didn't know there was a Wolfenstein: Enemy Territories.
"but hey, math isn’t an exact science!"
What the hell did I take physics and calculus for then?

wow... sure whatever
Man, I have killed that many zombies 80x over in left 4 dead.
999999999^+
haha, same
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 or AMD Athlon 64 3400 ? oO didn`t knew Athlon 64 were slower than Pentium 4 ... Another shit with "runs great on intel?"

Yes, that blooooooooooooooows thaat P4 away, you sir are an n00b.
3.2 GHz is asking too much. I only has a 2.4Ghz Quad core.. guess it is useless though.

he was kidding........
So, pretty much the same requirements as ever other game that comes out. Thanks for the info!
I won't be buying Wolfenstein. Although I really do like killing Nazi's...
he was kidding........
thought about that too ,but , you`ll be amazed about what *insert random insult* hides behind the keyboard on the internet, it might not be his case but still
