Seagate's 7200.7 stands out in two respects. First, the manufacturer offers a three-year guarantee for its Plus models with 8 MB cache (ST3120026A).
The second advantage of the Seagate drives is their undisputedly low operating noise level. We will only be able to deliver scientifically precise values in a few weeks, but at this point we can say that among all the drives we tested, the 7200.7 is the quietest so far with 7200 rpm. ot surprising - after all, Seagate was the first to put an IDE drive at this speed on the market and so has the most experience.
The performance values of the Barracuda "dot seven" are completely solid, although we would have liked to have seen better marks for applications. But that's the price that must be paid for the low acoustic strain - often an acceptable deal for home users.
The 7200.7 is now available with a capacity of up to 200 GB.
