microSD Cards

Pretec today announced an 8 GB SDHC card, which the company claims is the highest capacity SD card announced so far. Pretec expects mass production of the device by the end of the year.

Sandisk has added an 8 GB version to its Extreme III line of Compact Flash (CF) cards.

Following its recent announcement of a 4 GByte 150x (22.5 MB/sec; 1x = 150 kB/s) SD card, A-Data Technology has just unveiled another high-end flash-memory product, a 200x 4 GByte MMCplus card.

Pretec claims its new 133x SD card offers more capacity than any other SD card on the market.

The SD Association (SDA), the organisation that oversees the SD memory card format, has formally taken on board the TransFlash specification and renamed it MicroSD.

Samsung claims it is first to offer a 512 MByte microSD card.
