One of Valve's employees unexpectedly announced more Q4 reservations for the Steam Deck are being transferred to Q3, with production outperforming expectations.

Valve is opening reservations for the Steam Deck in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan. It says it can do this without affecting estimates for North America, Europe and the UK.

Valve has made a new change to the Steam Deck's original specifications, and is now allowing either a two-lane or four-lane NVMe SSD, which will reduce storage bandwidth on some models.

Valve says production of the Steam Deck has more than doubled per week, which should hopefully drive down reservation times for future owners.

A valve employee has taken to Twitter to warn against modding the Steam Deck's M.2 drive with a physically bigger SSD.
