AMD VP: No DirectX 12 API in the Near Future; Battlefield 4 Could be in Never Settle Bundle

In an interview with German Publication Heise.de, Ross Taylor, AMD's Vice President of Global Channel Sales, revealed that the company doesn't expect DirectX 12 to be arriving with the rumored Windows 8.1 "Blue" operating system or at any time in the near future. As a result, AMD's next-generation GPUs will integrate "other technologies."

Taylor also hinted that Battlefield 4 may be featured in the next "Never Settle" bundle.

Since next versions of DirectX 12 generally result in new GPU architectures, and both Nvidia and AMD plan to announce their new range of graphics cards at the end of this year, hopefully we don't have to wait very long for more information to surface.

That's not surprising, and not really that bad of news.

Even if DX 12 came right now, no games would support it, as all the consoles they'd be ported from will only support DX 11 - it'd be in as bad of shape as DX 11 used to be.

There is no info here. Are they talking open CL/GL? is directx just that far behind? artificial Microsoft gimmicks? Err limits? Open standards are picking up. We can all look forward to that. I don't know it will be in the next refresh cycle, but we can hope for the next design cycle

A good reason to skip buying the game then :P
If only the next bundle would come out before my current 6950 burns out and also only a few months after BF4 launches :D

jewellham26isI make $85/hour from working freelance on my laptop. Before this job i've been out of a job for 5 months but last month my payment with bonus was little over $18000 just for working on the laptop for about 5 hours a day. Here's the site to read more how you can do it too> www.wow72.com
Look. I understand being "out of work" (you could have done something...anything.....though... But be pathetic) for 5 months is stressful. I understand you may get desperate and pathetic and desperately try to hold on.

But you are not that guy. You gave no honor. You are just a pathetic joke of a liar.... Selling out to scam companies. No one takes you seriously. I feel bad for you but grow a pair

DirectX 9 was released in 2002. DirectX 10, for which pretty much, nobody cared about, was released in 2006. DirectX 11 was released in 2009 and graphics hardware caught up only recently with all the bells and whistles it brought, so I don't see any 'slump' here in case DX12 won't be released within 6 months.

Nah, the industry still doesn't use DirectX11 to its full extent, because it would put any kind of GPU to its knees.

As far as I know, Crysis 2 was and still is (I didn't play C3 to be sure) the game with the best implementation of DirectX11 yet, still, it's used only sparsely. A lot of tesselation (but mostly on walls, and some other random things.) For the most part, C2 uses Parallax Occlusion.

There is like literally 1 game that has implemented the optimised Multi-threading provided by DX11.

Am people are just starting the better utilise DirectCompute.

    You ever watch Office Space?

Never trust the words of a spammer. If they lie about one thing, they lie about it all.

Course, if your post was entirely sarcasm, carry on.

well if you look what you can still do with dx9 (skyrim with mods), dx11 should be fine for a while. The only thing they can really do to improve things in the next direct x is integrate some kind of physics acceleration that will work with any gpu. apart from that dx11 is still under-utillised in most games, and all but the highest end gpu;s are still struggling to handle high levels of tesselation in games, especially once you get higher resolutions and AA in the mix.
