Nintendo Introduces New Wii Mini Console for $100

Nintendo just launched a brand new Wii console earlier this month, but when is one ever enough? The company today announced another addition to the Wii line in the form of the cheaply priced Wii Mini.

Leaked by Best Buy Canada earlier this morning, the Wii Mini focuses just on Wii games. As a result, those purchasing the Wii Mini will be sacrificing the ability to play GameCube games as well as internet access.

"It's a great value for first-time Wii owners who just want to jump in and experience all the great Wii games that helped usher in a revolution in motion-controlled gaming," said Nintendo.

Right now, the Wii Mini is exclusive to Canada and priced at $99.99. We'll keep you updated if Nintendo plans to launch outside of the Great White North.

$20-30 more for a full featured Wii. I think Walmart had the full featured one for $89 on BF. When I saw the no internet, I thought this was stupid. How are you going to buy all the classic games from the Nintendo Store. This is one of the best features of the normal Wii.

TBH, rather just get a used Wii. Sure, GCN is dirt cheap by now, but the extra wires and clutter are a pain.

Because so many pivotal Wii titles had online mp.

Wii games are for regular people who have family/freinds they want to play with in their living room.

IDK why not this seems to be aimed at people who have the other consoles already.
    Seems dumb though.

I disagree in part with you. The Wii is not a casual only console. I just bought Metroid Other M, Sin and punishment, No more heroes 1 and 2, Metroid Trilogy, The Last story and one or 2 other games... There is some really impressive hardcore titles.

If that thing is not region coded, I will jump on it... but I know it will.

Ouch, this is an extremely tough buy considering the no Wi-fi and online game support + Nintendo already announced it would not be developing anymore Wii games so this is just a disrespectful product for the consumer.
