Another Look at Battlestar Galactica Online...CGI

Yes, we know you've seen a ton of game trailers over the past few days, but hey, it was E3. Now that the show has come to an end, the long wait begins before some of these fantastic games hit the store shelves or your online vendor of choice.

Because we're all Battlestar Galactica fans here, we want to share with you this E3 trailer for BSG Online, which is curiously not only an MMO, but also a browser game.

We seriously doubt that the gameplay will resemble how dynamic things look in this E3 trailer, but more space combat cutscenes will help anyone suffering from BSG withdrawal.

Game description:

Players will be able to choose to play as cylons or humans in a constant struggle to control the universe or just survive its perils. A blend of tactical space combat, exploration, and mission-based gameplay will provide a diverse experience. The dramatic missions will define the game's overall storyline, enabling the player to delve into mysteries of the Battlestar universe. Battlestar Galactica Online will create a new standard for web games, with beautiful 3d graphics and innovative game mechanics bringing a new level of game play to browser based MMOG. Assets from the television production will be integrated into the game to deliver an even more authentic experience.

Battlestar Galactica is an old TV show that used to be awesome, this however is a pile of crap masquerading as a soap opera...

Hmmm... The best idea of Battlestar Galactica is/was that you don't know who the tousters are... I am not so sure how well that can be put in Mmo game.
But interesting to see if this one can survive...

Looks like a pure-combat and story driven space MMO. I'll stick to Eve Online for that, I like deep, complex games than just combat but stories would be nice.

  • Sorry TunaSoda, the old BSG blew nuts. The new reimagined one is better than a lot of shows today. Great cast, great writing, and awesome CGI. You can keep your Buck Rogers clone.

Looks promising and I like the imagery of the trailer. this reminds me a lot of Eve online but eve didn't have much of any real pve or storyline development. It is a player made sandbox with the most stunning visuals (less is more) I've seen. Breath taking, but player based content / sandbox gets a bit old and boring. Not much to sink your teeth into if you're not into pure pvp or mind numbing mining.

Hope this doesn't turn out to be another bomb like Startrek online and has engaging/compelling/balanced combat, questing and progression systems.
