When SilverStone introduced its Raven RV05 case, the company brought a chassis to the table that has room for plenty of hardware in a relatively compact form factor. The company accomplished this by removing the 5.25" optical drive bay and rotating the motherboard by 90 degrees, but the catch was that it had the Raven styling cues, which doesn't suit everyone's fancy.
Now, the company has announced its Fortress FT05 enclosure, which features a similar layout but a modern, sleek design.
Inside the case you'll be able to fit an ATX motherboard, graphics cards up to 312 mm long, CPU coolers up to 162 mm tall, two 3.5" drives, two more 2.5" drives, and lastly, a slim slot-loading optical drive.
Cooling also follows the Raven RV05 design, where the bottom of the case holds two 180 mm Air Penetrator fans that can spin at speeds between 600 RPM and 1200 RPM while making between 17 to 34 dBA of noise. The top of the case has a single 120 mm fan mount. Because of this, airflow in the case is very simple – it goes straight from bottom to top, and that's it. More isn't needed by today's efficient systems, anyway.
Two USB 3.0 ports and the usual pair of HD audio jacks handle front I/O connectivity.
The case measures 221 x 483 x 427 mm and has an internal capacity of 46 liters, which is relatively compact for an ATX chassis.
SilverStone priced the Fortress FT05 at $186.36 with availability slated for October 20. It will be available in black and white.
