NEC and LaCie Lead On Professional LCD Gear

Ergonomics

Ergonomically, this an excellent product. The panel can be adjusted for height and inclination, with the whole unit sitting upon a rotating base that allows effortless positioning of the screen for optimum viewing. The mounting is especially welcome for its ability to support the weight of this contraption! The result is a product which is quite easily adjusted.

The OSD still isn't completely right, with the controls being on the front panel; both LaCie and NEC have focused on functionality in this area. OSD navigation is straightforward but the product is clearly aimed at the professional marketplace and those familiar with adjusting color temperature, saturation, gamma values and other technical settings.

Equipment

What you get is simple, but it's all there, including dual > connectivity (VGA and DVI) supporting the connection of two PCs in either VGA or DVI. This is something rare enough that it deserves to be emphasized.

To protect you from background lighting interference and reflections, LaCie and NEC provide anti-reflection blinds to affix to the top and sides of the panel.

Whether branded as NEC or LaCie, the product makes clear its professional aspirations. The screen is completely customizable, and the product is as sturdy as you could wish for. Now let's see what happens when we get it on the test bench.
