Valve: Big Surprise Isn't Episode 3 (Booooo!)
So much for that theory.
Looks as though the speculation that Half-Life 2: Episode 3 would be Valve's "big surprise" come E3 2010 was shot down in fiery flames. Although it seems rather odd that Valve head honcho Gabe Newell would shoot down candidates for the mystery reveal, apparently he confirmed Episode 3's exclusion in a recent private message, simply saying "it isn't Ep 3." Bummer.
Newell also confirmed that a recent teaser image--depicting the Half-Life symbol with the words "Freeman" and "June 14th" centered underneath--was a fake. The history of the document also shows a lot of tampering although the edits appear to have taken place on June 4. Clearly someone was really hoping for the long-delayed, third installment, and wanted to spread the love.
So what exactly will be Valve's big surprise? The company recently hinted that the mystery reveal wouldn't interest Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers, indicating that PC gamers will receive some sort of high-profile treat come June 14. That's a nice surprise in itself given that many PC developers are slowly shifting over to the dark side (namely heavy console support).

Finally some news today. Bad news but at least some news.
I still wanted portal 2
I don't think anyone cares about the June 14th mystery now that we all know it's not going to be Episode 3.
That doesn't seem all that surprising. The email cancelling things still referred to an E3 Portal 2 surprise: "If you'd like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise," which seems to suggest that the surprise is still related to Portal 2 in some way. But I suppose we'll find out soon, won't we?
ARRRGHHH!!! You can't claim to change the way we game with episodic content and just stop after two episodes. Maybe it's gone the "Firefly/Serenity" route and they're just going to release a full fledged Half-Life 3. OR, maybe it's Valve's first mmo (though I doubt it).
Either way, I'm sure we won't be disappointed by what we receive, rather what we didn't receive (HL2:EP3).
Valve sure is taking their sweet time in episode 3: ARCTIC WARS
Lol. "Dark side". I'd shift there, too, if that's where all the money was at.
And practically everyone knew that there is now Ep. 3.
Portal 2 is still coming out, they said they won't be showing it at E3. I'd bet HL3 new engine opening the door for new era of releases.
I was hoping for another Half-Life installment. Hopefully they don't disappoint.

HL3 > HL2:EP3 ...!
Portal 2 is Episode 3

Probably the official announcement of the Half Life movie. Joss Whedon made a facebook post about being in talks to direct.
I thought it was a hoax. Releasing something like that just isn't Valve's style. I was still hoping for Ep.3 before I die.... Brand new game maybe?
At least he told sent an email out essentially confirming it wasn't L4D3. Not that it would be terrible, but I'm more into their single player games.
I really wish it was Portal 2.. =[
..sigh..
Its obviously Valve's DOTA. They hired a DOTA creator like 2 years ago and he said that they would be making an announcement soon two or so months back
L4D3
L4D3
i swear to god if it is lfd3...
I could see it being Half-Life 3 along with a new engine. leading to TF 3 and L4D3
To bad they dropped the ball with Half-Life...
It was hot in 2004 and now is chilly cold...
I hope it is a new engine, and it would make sense with their shift to Mac and (hopefully) Linux. New Engine for OpenGL!
FFS!
Damnit Valve! Ware in hell is our Episode 3??????
>:|
The Episode 3 is a lie.
Maybe they are working on Portal 3 just so they can released it before December 2012.
I said it before, Plants vs Zombies 2!!!!
For PC gamers only! Oh i feel so special
Has to be HL3. I can't see anything else they could possibly announce that would be worth cancelling the Portal 2 event for.
Confirmation of the Linux port of Steam and the Source Engine isn't a big enough deal that it would be the "Big Surprise", but I'd be happy if they threw that in there also.
Hopefully valve is not merging with apple.. Or worse, being bought by apple.! Or how about half life 3 exclusive on ipad.. Gosh, am scared already.. Bad dream.! Bad dream.!
Half-Life episode 3 will be bundled with Duke Nukem Forever.
I could cry...*sniffle*...
