Samsung's Windows RT Ativ Tab Up for UK Pre-order

Last week, Samsung insisted that the Ativ S would definitely launch before the year's end. The company denied rumors that the device was delayed until 2013, and it looks like it has made good on its promise to make the Windows Phone 8 smartphone available in 2012.

We received word from UK retailer Close that the Ativ S would be hitting the UK on Friday, December 14. Not only that, but it will be joined by the Ativ Tab.

The Ativ S boasts a 4.8-inch 1,280 x 720 Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 2, 1GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage, support for NFC, a microSD card slot and a 2,300mAh battery pack. It's powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU clocked to 1.5Ghz, and boasts an Adreno 225 GPU, as well as a rear 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and a front facing 1.9-megapixel camera.

The Ativ Tab is Samsung's Windows RT tablet. The Ativ Tab is based on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, features 2GB of RAM, up to 32GB of storage (with microSD up to 64GB), a 10.1-inch 1368x768 HD LCD, Bluetooth, WiFi, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1.9-megapixel webcam, and a 8200mAh battery.

Clove is currently taking pre-orders for both devices, with the Ativ S priced at just under £445 and the Ativ Tab priced at just shy of £540.

That Ativ S phone sounds pretty interesting. Alas, still no flagships in Windows camp, this is only playing catch-up with "other" leading mobileplatforms...

As for the WinRT device - meh. Bring on the Pro devices already.
