'Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3' Delayed To April 2017

When we tried Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 last month, CI Games told us the game would come out on January 27, 2017. But the studio isn't going to meet that release date: The title has been delayed, and it's now expected to debut on April 4, 2017.

The three-month delay gives CI Games more time to polish and optimize the game. Unlike previous installments in the series, the development team is tackling new features in Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, such as open-world gameplay across three large maps. You can take on missions in different parts of the world or craft bullets and modify weapons in one of your many safehouses in the area.

These are uncharted development areas for the studio, so it will take more time to ensure that the finished product meets the standards of its fans. CI Games will also use the extra time to make some improvements based on feedback from fans, press, and streamers.

“This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished,” said CI Games CEO Tyminski. “I really hope everyone will understand our decision and will wait the extra time to play something we’re excited about, and that will redefine our IP and the sniping genre as a whole.”

It’s possible that the studio will continue to release additional trailers and gameplay footage in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, you can check out our hands-on coverage of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3.
