NVIDIA GeForce FX5700 Ultra GDDR-3, Continued

The GeForce FX 5700 Ultra graphics processor - made in Korea. Note that neither IBM nor TSMC have fabs in Korea, though...

Overclocker's delight: These Samsung GDDR-3 memory modules are rated at up to 500 MHz (1000 MHz DDR). The GDDR-2 modules found on the older version of the card were only designed for 450 MHz (900 MHz DDR). The "J" towards the beginning of the part number denotes GDDR-3 memory modules in Samsung's nomenclature. "D" represents GDDR-1, while N means the module is a GDDR-2 part. You can find more information about Samsung's graphics DRAM code information here .

Uncovered: The new GeForce FX 5700 Ultra with the heatsink removed.
We already covered the technical background of the NV36/FX 5700 chip in a previous article. You can read up on it here .
