Earlier this week we got all excited about Nokia's special edition Lumia 900 that's set to come out in time for the release of the Dark Knight Rises. The phone features an all black, matte finish with a Batman logo etched into the back. However, very little else was known about the device, such as when it might come out, how much it would cost, and how people could go about procuring one.
Well, today some of those questions were answered as UK retailer Phones 4u opened up pre-orders for the phone online. First of all, we now know that in addition to the Batman logo etched into the Lumia 900's polycarbonate case, the phone will also come with a limited edition black and grey skin, exclusive character wallpapers, and ringtones, as well as special limited edition packaging. You'll also get free tickets to see the movie. Second, Phones 4u has revealed that this device is a Phones 4u exclusive, which means if you want one, you're not going to get it any place else other than Phones 4u.
Lastly, the phone is listed as being available on Orange or Vodafone and the phone is free on certain contracts. However, Engadget reports that off-contract pricing is £600. Launch date is June 1, which is this Friday, and there's apparently only 900 of these phones available (rather fitting for the Lumia 900) so you'd better get a move on if you want one.
Still no word on a similar limited edition Lumia 900 for the U.S. but we'll keep you posted. In case you've forgotten what the Lumia 900 has under the hood, the phone boasts a similar design to the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 but is packing a bit more of a punch under the hood. It boasts a single-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED 800 x 480 touchscreen display, 512MB RAM, an 8-megapixel (F2.2, 28mm) camera in the rear with Carl Zeiss optics, and a 1840mAH battery. It's also got support for 4G LTE in the U.S.
